TREATMENTS
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a procedure that involves preparing and optimizing sperm in our clinic’s laboratory to ensure they are in the best possible condition for insemination. This process, known as sperm capacitation, increases the chances of successful fertilization.
Step-by-Step Treatment Process
1.
FERTILITY CHECK-UP
When you schedule your check-up, your doctor will begin with your medical history, perform a transvaginal ultrasound, and order any necessary tests to determine the best time to begin your treatment—all within our facilities.
2.
OVULATION INDUCTION
During the medication phase, the goal is to stimulate the development of a dominant follicle to prepare for the procedure.
3.
SPERM PREPARATION (CAPACITATION)
The sperm sample is processed in our laboratory to select only the healthiest and most motile sperm capable of fertilizing the egg. The sample is collected approximately two hours before the insemination.
4.
INTRAUTERINE INSEMINATION
During insemination, a fine catheter is used to place the prepared sperm directly into the uterine cavity, reducing the distance they must travel to reach and fertilize the egg.
What Does It Include and How Much Does It Cost?

**The sperm sample must be collected at Life’s facilities two hours prior to the procedure.**
NOT INCLUDED:

How Long Does the Treatment Take?
Depending on your menstrual cycle and previous test results, the process usually takes between 1 and 3 months before starting the procedure.
Maximum Age for IUI
Your time and age matter.
Your age and timing matter. Life Fertility & Banking recommends considering IUI in cases of mild sperm abnormalities (such as low motility or moderate sperm count), when at least one fallopian tube is open and healthy, or when ovulation issues such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are present. IUI may also be an option in cases of unexplained infertility.
syndrome (PCOS) are present. IUI may also be an option in cases of unexplained infertility.
While IUI can be performed up to around age 38–39, the best success rates occur before age 35, when egg quality is optimal. After age 38, success rates drop significantly, and in vitro fertilization (IVF) is typically recommended.
Egg and Sperm Donation
LIFE Fertility & Banking offers safe and reliable donor options through our own cryobank, with ongoing medical monitoring throughout the process. If you would like to explore donor options for your IUI treatment, please contact your patient coordinator for more information.
